REFRACTIONS OF BOB DYLAN - Cultural Appropriations of an American Icon. Manchester UP, 2015.

As of Oct 13, 2016: recommended by the Nobel committee (click)

The collection looks at how Dylan has been used and interpreted by others, and how his work has been reworked into cultural expressions in culturally and regionally divergent spaces. Additionally, a number of essays look at what Dylan has appropriated and incorporated in his own work, focusing on questions of plagiarism, tribute, allusion, love and theft.

Review by Abe Davis (disclaimermag)

AUSTROBOBÖsterreichische Aneignungen von Bob Dylans Poesie und Musik. (mit Alexandra Ganser und Martin Blumenau). Wien: Falter Verlag, 2014.

Curriculum Vitae

I studied English and German in Brighton, UK, Vienna, and at UOttawa and earned postgraduate degrees from the University of Vienna and the University of Sussex. I  completed my PhD in 2007, which won the Science Award 2008 of the Austrian-Canadian Society and was published as Fluid Exile in 2009. My interest in Bob Dylan led to the organization of a conference on the occasion of his 70th birthday in Vienna, which resulted in two book publications (see above). I worked as a guest professor at Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 2010/11. From 2011 to December 2015 I worked within research funding and management at the FWF (Austria's research funding agency) where I was responsible  for the funding of arts-based research (PEEK).
